Introducing Laurita

Hi, my name is Laurita de Diego Brako, just like my name I'm a blend of Spanish and Ghanaian.

I am the Director of Support•Change•Heal, a private practice I started over 7 years ago. I've been a practicing psychotherapist for over 10 years, and earned my Masters in Counselling Psychology with a concentration in Group Psychotherapy from the Adler University in Chicago.

My thoughts on therapy- I believe its important to take a holistic approach and address all aspects of the individual. Therapy is your journey and I am here to provide you with support along the way, cheerleading you as you make your way towards the destination you have set out for yourself. Therapy is a process and I encourage those I work with to be patient and kind to themselves throughout the journey.

Approaches used- Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Psychodynamic, Mindfulness, and incorporate appropriate techniques from other approaches to suit your unique needs.

Trainings:

  • Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (TF-CBT)
  • Cognitive Behavioural Intervention for Trauma in Schools (CBITS)
  • Eye Movement and Desensitization and Reprocessing 1 (EMRD 1)

Areas of Focus/Experience:

  • Depression
  • Anxiety
  • Relational Difficulties
  • Trauma

Beyond therapy:

I am also a Certified Customer Service Trainer, and have led organisation wide training sessions which focus on customer service, communication skills, workforce productivity and management. This has been provided through my work with Quality Service Institute (QSI). I've worked with organisations such as Petra Trust, SSNIT, Trust Hospital, Ghana Civil Aviation, and GCNet as part of my work with QSI.

As part of my consultancy services, I have provided facilitation services to GIZ for team building and the African Women’s Development Fund (AWDF) as part of a wellness retreat. I have provided mental health talks to companies such as ENI and Modec through my consultancy work for West African Rescue Association (WARA) and conducted a talk for Tullow's Accra and Takoradi branch on Mindfulness through their work with Supreme Healthcare.
